Alina Morelli Baima

Alina Morelli Baima is currently an Instructional Coach in the largest high school district in Illinois. She teaches special education and is a co-teacher of biology at Schaumburg High School having previously taught in 3 other Chicagoland area high schools. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University and has endorsements in Spanish, EL, and bilingual education.

She has been an instructional coach for a decade, served as the Assistant Department Chairperson of Special Education at Schaumburg High School for 5 years, and has held various committee and leadership roles throughout the district. Alina aspires to inspire before she expires and believes that her superpower is cultivating and supporting spaces that inspire learners to grow, develop, and thrive. Alina is a 2023 HP Teaching Fellowship, her Instructional Development Team was nominated for a Those Who Excel Award in 2019, and in 2015 she was a Nominee for Illinois Teacher of the Year.

She joined the Teacher Advisory Board to use her expertise to contribute to the development of high-impact professional learning experiences and products to support educators in doing their job more effectively, efficiently, and innovatively.

Her vision of education puts the learner at the center of every decision from design choice to assessment and encompasses growing educators’ skills and competencies in melding research into practice, crafting captivating learning experiences, fostering a culturally responsive practice, championing differentiation, honoring learner variability, making learning relevant and joyous, and employing high-impact learning strategies.
