Teacher Advisory Board Member

Anna Lee-Villarreal

Anna Lee-Villarreal has dedicated more than 25 years to the field of education, presently fulfilling the role of Early Literacy TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment). The majority of her career has been centered on teaching second and third grade at Parlier Unified, a small rural town in central California.

Before assuming the position of TOSA, she served as a reading interventionist, providing targeted support to students ranging from first to sixth grade. Prior to her venture into reading intervention, she pursued a Master's degree with a Reading Certificate from Grand Canyon University. This academic pursuit enriched her understanding of reading as a teachable skill, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach to reading instruction.

It became evident that a balanced focus on phonics and comprehension skills was pivotal for nurturing proficient readers. Her roles as a reading interventionist and an Early Literacy TOSA have empowered her to shape instructional strategies across classrooms and the entire district.

Ms. Villarreal believes by joining the Teacher Advisory Board that her dedication to supporting all learners and the belief that all students deserve a quality education will make a greater impact. She maintains that education should not only foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills to empower students in analyzing information but also aim to holistically educate every child.
