Bhawna Gupta

Ms. Bhawna Gupta is proud to be an elementary school teacher in New York City. For the past 18 years, Bhawna has worked as an elementary school teacher, reading interventionist and leader in both public and charter schools across New York City. During her tenure, she had led diverse groups of students to academic success across all subjects.

By employing a variety of teaching methods based on data-driven instruction, her students are engaged in their learning, resulting in a dramatic increase in her students’ ability not only to make significant gains in their learning, but to problem-solve and think creatively. Her classroom has always been characterized by academic rigor and a culture of achievement and she has consistently been named as the Highest Performing Teacher in her charter network.

Bhawna has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from New York University and a Master’s degree in Literacy from Teachers College, Columbia University. She joined the Teacher Advisory Board (TAB) because she believes in the importance of inclusive practices and developing culturally relevant and responsive curricula.

She has a deep commitment to fostering classroom communities in which every student feels valued, represented and successful. Bhawna believes that everyone has a role to play in the pursuit of equity and justice and loves to be part of a professional learning community of change makers.
