Janet Grom

Janet Grom is currently a K-8 Math Specialist in Tempe, Arizona. She teaches everything from counting to Algebra 1. Janet has spent over 8 years in education, both as a classroom teacher and an Interventionist. Her teaching journey started at a middle school in 2011 in Houston, Texas in conjunction with Teach For America, and since then has evolved into a Specialist role.

She feels her niche is working with students in small groups to build their problem solving and critical thinking skills, in tandem with their self-confidence. Janet holds a Master of Science Degree from Arizona State University in Family and Human Development. She believes that all students can achieve success when given access to the appropriate resources and opportunities. She enjoys finding creative ways to make the math subject matter relatable to each of her student’s lives and interests.

Janet joined the Teacher Advisory Board because she wants to be part of a positive shift in education where teachers’ opinions are valued and heard, thus leading to higher student outcomes. Her passion lies in helping others succeed, and she hopes that through her work in schools, she will leave a positive impact on all students that she encounters.

Janet hopes that the future of education is one that encompasses the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students; that all students can achieve, grow, and learn from outstanding teachers in their lives.
