As a former award-winning educator with a decade of experience in the classroom, Josephine was tapped for a central office position in Austin Independent School District (AISD) as a Technology Design Coach and later Curriculum & Instructional Designer. In these educational leadership roles in AISD, Josephine crafted curriculum and resources impacting 5,500+ teachers and 80,000+ students and families across the district. Before joining Teaching Lab, Josephine was a Learning Experience Designer at Calendly, where she helped the People team grow and nurture team members across the organization by propping up a mentoring program and crafting learning around career and performance conversations with the Learning & Development team.

Josephine maintains an educational certificate and National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language Arts. She has a Plan II Honors and English degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she defended her honors thesis, entitled: “Magic and Machiavelli in Contemporary Young Adult Literature: The Principles of Wizard Power in J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series and Jonathan Stroud’s ‘Bartimaeus’ Series.” Josephine brings to Teaching Lab her years of experience in the classroom, continuous learning around equity and culturally responsive teaching, and passion for empowering teachers and students.

When she's not shaping the future of education, you'll find Josephine immersed in creative pursuits—watching movies and anime, collecting cute stickers, baking delectable sweets, honing her culinary skills, gaming on her Nintendo Switch, and exploring new artistic endeavors.
