As Senior Director, Strategy, Katie co-creates and articulates the strategic direction of Teaching Lab, creates the systems and processes for monitoring and meeting organizational goals, and manages complex strategy processes across the team to advance Teaching Lab’s mission and priority goals. 

Katie joins Teaching Lab from The School Leadership Project, an education strategy consultancy she co-founded and led focused on community-driven school change. In this work, in partnership with education, civic, philanthropic, and community leaders, Katie’ designed and supported school transformation initiatives, teacher professional learning and the launch and development of student-centered learning adoptions in communities across the Midwest and the Native nations that share that geography.

Prior to this, Katie led a school incubator program and served as a school administrator focused on teacher professional development and support for students with special learning needs. Katie’s career in education began when she had the joy and privilege of teaching middle school Social Studies in New York City through Teach for America.

Katie holds a B.A. in History from Boston College and an M.A. from the University of Minnesota in Educational Policy & Administration focused on high-impact teacher professional learning; she recently earned a second M.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she focused her Specialized Studies program on the intersections of community-organizing principles and practices, parent and family leadership and deeper learning pedagogies.

Katie lives with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, and three bunnies in Minneapolis, MN.
