As Coordinator, Learning & Research Mary Kate develops and manages systems and structures to track internal and external research activities to enhance Teaching Lab’s research design capacity and learning organization culture.

Before joining Teaching Lab, Mary Kate worked as a Research Specialist at Laureate Institute for Brain Research in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her research experiences thus far have focused on developmental psychology, child and family health, and promoting community resilience. Through her prior research experience, she has become especially interested in using scientific inquiry and data to identify and mitigate systemic and cultural inequities that affect individual and community learning and well-being.

Mary Kate holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. While completing her undergraduate degree, she gained experience in research methodology and evaluation as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, American Indians Into Psychology research fellow, and recipient of the Indian Health Service (IHS) Scholarship award.

Outside of work, Mary Kate enjoys collecting and caring for houseplants, as well as spending time with her family and her dog.
