Shaping the Future of Learning with AI and User-Centered Design

Teaching Lab is on a mission to build the future of learning through our Coherence Innovation Studio by incubating high-impact ideas in Generative AI. A big priority for the Studio is user-centered design in all aspects of our work; from the products we’re newly developing to products not yet known.

At the heart of this is educator feedback, and we are currently recruiting more teachers, coaches, and administrators to support user-testing and research to make sure we are designing with educators in mind. We know your time is valuable, so these engagements would all be paid opportunities (rate dependent on the specific support needed). Examples for paid work may include:

  • Interviews and Focus Groups: Answer questions one-on-one or in larger groups to help user researchers.

  • Product Feedback: Work through certain product features or technologies to actively and specifically provide feedback to user researchers.

  • Surveys: Fill out quick questionnaires and surveys related to teaching, learning, and AI.

Who are you?

  • Current or former teacher, school leader, administrator, or educator with experience in the US K-12 Education System.

  • All subjects and grade levels (we are looking for diverse perspectives — the wider range the better!)

What is the Coherence Innovation Studio?

The Coherence Innovation Studio is a new unit of Teaching Lab, a leading provider of educator coaching and professional learning across the U.S. We created the Studio to incubate high-impact ideas made possible by the dramatic progress in generative AI. We believe that AI-enabled supports and tools can unlock the potential of both educators and learners in ways that haven't been imagined, especially for those furthest from opportunity.

Why We Exist

Many of the AI tools introduced in the last several months produce low-quality resources, ignore learning science, or fail to understand the learning environment in and out of school. Furthermore, many funders don’t provide innovators with the guidance and wrap-around supports to find out what really works in classrooms. We solve the problem by strategically supporting innovators. This way, you can create usable tools that improve instructional coherence and employ what we know about what works in teaching and learning.
